Who Can Apply:

Freelancers (self-employed) and remote employees working for companies outside Portugal. The key requirement is a minimum official income of €3,480 per month. This income can come from one company or be a cumulative amount from multiple contracts

D9 Visa. Golden Visa and Residency Based on Investments in Portugal

Golden Visa is a unique residency option for individuals who want to maintain their residency status while primarily living outside of Portugal. One of the key benefits of this visa is the minimal stay requirement: applicants need to stay in Portugal for only 7 days in the first year and 14 days in each subsequent year

Investment Options for the Golden Visa:

A minimum investment of €500,000 in eligible Portuguese investment funds. These funds must have a maturity period of at least five years and at least 60% of the portfolio must be invested in companies with a registered office in Portugal. Funds that directly invest in real estate are excluded from this option

A minimum donation of €250,000 for the preservation of national heritage, or a donation of €500,000 for research and development activities in Portugal

Creation of 10 full-time jobs in a new Portuguese company. This option has no minimum investment threshold

An investment of €500,000 to either establish a new company that creates at least 5 full-time jobs, or to increase the share capital of an existing company, resulting in the creation of 5 new jobs or the retention of 10 existing jobs

D1 Visa: Subordinate Work Residence


D1 Visa: Subordinate Work Residence
The D1 Visa is designed for individuals who have received a job offer from a Portuguese company. It is intended for stays longer than 12 months. To qualify, the position must have been advertised and gone through a recruitment process that proves it could not be filled by a Portuguese citizen or another EU national

D3 Visa. Highly Qualified Activity Residence in Portugal

A residence permit is granted to highly qualified professionals

Who can apply:

Professionals with higher education working in their field, with a minimum monthly salary of €2,157

Independent professionals holding higher education qualifications, conducting activities in their field, and having a service contract with a Portuguese company. Their monthly income must also exceed €2,157

Entrepreneurs with higher education who have established a company in Portugal. They must perform as a director or manager in their company, conducting activities aligned with their expertise and earning a minimum salary of €2,157 per month

The visa is issued for 4 months, which can be extended for another 2 months, and permits only one entry into Portugal

Once you secure a job offer and sign an employment contract, you can apply for residency in Portugal. If you are unable to establish an employment relationship by the end of the visa period, you must leave the country. You can reapply for the Job Seeker Visa only after a one-year waiting period

Residency for School Students:

Children under the age of 18 can obtain an independent residence permit in Portugal based on their school enrollment. This type of residency applies to students aged 12 to 18. It is initially issued for one year with the possibility of extension for subsequent years, as long as the student remains enrolled in school

Even if the parents do not have residency, they can apply for residency based on family reunification with the child, allowing them to legally reside in Portugal alongside their child

Residence Permit for Holders of Long-Term Residency Status in Another European Union Country:
